HEREFORD skatepark is among the green community projects in Herefordshire given the green light thanks to more than £20,000 in grants from the Landfill Community Fund.
Five community facilities will receive funding thanks to the Pershore-based charity ‘Welcome to our Future’, having demonstrated that their renovations would benefit the environment, either directly or indirectly.
Hereford skatepark is among the beneficiaries – having been awarded £5000 to go towards new toilets at the Holmer Road site.
The toilets will form part of the next stage of development at the park, along with a coaching clubhouse and floodlights, that got the go-ahead following the award of almost £50,000 in Sport England funding last year.
The other successful applicants were Hereford’s St Pauls Church ¬– which will receive £6000 towards a new community centre – and Moor Farm Community Association, which was awarded £5000 towards a new infants play area.
Christ Church in Llangrove will get £2500 for new heating and lighting, St Dubricus Church in Whitchurch will receive £2000 for a new roof gully and Moccas Village Hall have been awarded £1061 for new thermal blinds.
