A LUCTON School pupil as been selected to become the Lord Lieutenant's cadet for Herefordshire.

Colour Sergeant Liberty Perry was recommended to Lady Darnley to assist her at various events and occasions, including royal visits and civic ceremonies.

Gill Thorne, headteacher at Lucton School, said: "Liberty is such an active member of the school and has been a dedicated and loyal cadet participating in all the activities and training opportunities offered.

"This is a tremendous honour and we are all incredibly proud of Liberty.”

Liberty will be formally appointed at a ceremony in Hereford on Tuesday, March 4.
