TREES fell through homes in Symonds Yat and Rotherwas overnight as stormy weather hit Herefordshire.

Fire crews were first called to Drag Road in Symonds Yat shortly before 10.20pm last night.

A pine tree had fallen through a stone-built house, but no one was in at the time.

The property was described as being a "dangerous structure" and there was a risk of a fire.

Firefighters had to use cutting equipment top gain access to the property and eventually left the scene just after 12.35am this morning.

Western Power Distribution was also called to isolate the electrics.

The fire service then received a call at 3.20am to say that a tree had crashed through the roof of a bungalow in Rotherwas, just outside Hereford.

However, no action was required by firefighters when they attended the property off the B4399.

Crews did offer advice to the occupants though and made sure that the electrics were not affected.

Meanwhile, the county's river's are again on high alert.

There is currently a flood warning in place for the River Teme, on the Herefordshire-Shropshire border at Leintwardine and Walford, while flood alerts are in place for the Wye, Arrow, Frome, Lugg and Monnow.
