A NEW pop up shop has opened in Hereford to give guidance about government funded training for employers, employees and those seeking work.

Councillor Patricia Morgan, deputy leader for Herefordshire Council, handed over a "licence to occupy" to Philip Broomhead of Riverside Training in a collaborative project.

She said: "It is really exciting to be able to provide this prime site to advertise the learning opportunities available in Herefordshire – I wish them every success”.

The Skills Shop in Widemarsh Street will be a drop-in centre for anyone who wants to know about the opportunities available for subsidised training in retail, customer service, hospitality and catering, team leading and management.

Further information is available on apprenticeships, traineeships, and other courses aiming to fill skills gaps.

Hereford MP Jesse Norman said the initiative would provide information about all the funding that the government has put in place to help employers recruit and improve staff skills to meet the challenges of 2014.

Philip Broomhead, head of business development at Riverside, added: "It can be a minefield to fathom out the eligibility and application processes for training, that’s where we come in. We can untangle the funding streams and ensure that each enquiry makes full use of their entitlement.”
