THE A465 close to the Welsh border has re-opened following a collision between a lorry and a railway bridge early this morning.

Police were called at 6am after an articulated lorry hit a railway bridge on the A465 at Pontrilas.

No injuries were reported but the A465 was closed in both directions while emergency services worked to recover the vehicle which was stuck.

Other lorry drivers helped to try and unload the lorry to help release it.

Network Rail stopped trains running on the line earlier this morning as a precaution but it is believed that all trains were running as normal from 8am.

There has been no structural damage to the bridge and the road re-opened at around 11.40am.
