MUCH Marcle Primary School has been deemed "outstanding" in its latest Ofsted report.
Inspector Clive Lewis said that the "exceptional vision, enthusiasm and drive" of its headteacher, supported by staff and an outstanding governing body, inspire pupils to thrive in all aspects of their personal and academic development.
"Teaching is outstanding because teachers have strong expectations of pupils' progress and organise lessons very carefully to ensure that pupils acquire knowledge and reinforce new skills rapidly," said Mr Lewis.
"Pupils have very positive attitudes to school and strive to do well.
"This is a major factor in the excellent progress they make in most lessons.
"They understand the importance of being part of a team and that everyone contributes to its success and encourage each other as they work in small groups."
However, Mr Lewis pointed out that, to improve even further, the school needs to develop a more formal system of assessing and tracking pupils' progress in other subjects to match the rigorous systems already in place for reading, writing and mathematics.
Head teacher Lorna Harrison said that the school is proud of the achievement and recognises the hard work of pupils and staff , as well as the support from parents.
