A LEOMINSTER shop which has helped to raise hundreds of pounds for local charities has been broken into once again.

Police were called between 3am and 6am yesterday morning to Aladdin’s General Stores on Bridge Street.

Equipment taken included a computer monitor and hard drive for CCTV worth £500, £344 worth of supermarket stamp savings, menthol cigarettes, mobile phones, CDs and £2,500 in cash.

Sue Williams, owner of the store, said: “I’m more gutted for my staff. They had been saving for nights out, putting £2 a week into a pot and it mounts up.

“We have several nights out a year but hadn’t had one for ages. We said only last week that we’d saved a good amount and should arrange something but obviously now that won’t happen.

“We’ve installed more CCTV and alarms now. But we’ve had wonderful support.

“The Hop Pole Inn has started a collection for my staff – Leominster’s a lovely community like that. I’ve had a huge amount of messages in support too. People have said we do so much for charity here – we raised £1,000 for little Freddie recently.

“And Bluebell’s florist has also sent a beautiful bouquet.”

The shop was broken into just last year when a charity box was taken.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious, has any information or has been offered any of the stolen goods should call police on 101 with incident number 0665290114.
