A MAN has been fined after mud from his farm caused a serious crash in the county.

An Army Land Rover and a Fiat Punto were in collision on the A465 at Didley, near Wormbridge, in October 2012.

A female passenger in the Land Rover sustained neck injuries and the male driver of the Punto a broken leg.

Martin Manning, aged 55, from Upper House Farm, Didley, was found guilty at Hereford Magistrates Court yesterday of depositing mud on the highway, resulting in an injury and endangering road users.

Following the verdict, Inspector Damian Sowrey said: “We welcome this result.

"It goes to demonstrate our commitment to making sure the roads are as safe as possible.”

Manning’s defence team has lodged an appeal against the verdict.
