HEREFORDSHIRE’S polling districts and polling stations are to be reviewed in a new consultation following changes to ward boundaries.

The consultation, run by Herefordshire Council from Monday February 3 to Friday April 25, follows changes to ward boundaries by The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE).

Those changes which will see 53 councillors representing 53 single-member wards.

Alistair Neill, Herefordshire Council chief executive and returning officer, said: “In line with the changes to our boundaries and in compliance with the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013, we are undertaking a review of our polling districts and polling stations, prior to necessary changes being implemented.

“It is the council’s responsibility to ensure that all electors in Herefordshire have a reasonably local polling station which has adequate facilities to allow them to vote in person at election time. We welcome comments from residents who have knowledge of their local area and available facilities, especially those with accessibility for disabled voters.”

The final decision on new polling districts and polling stations will be announced in September, ahead of the publication of the 2014/15 Register of Electors on 1 December.

The new electoral arrangements will come into effect on May 7 2015.
