Celebrate national libraries day in Herefordshire next month

A number of events will be taking place in the county to mark National Libraries Day on February 8.

At Hereford Library there will be a chance to meet best-selling writer Phil Rickman who will be signing and selling copies of his latest Merrily Watkins book – The Magus of Hay – in the Woolhope Room from 11am to 1pm.

Logaston Press – publishers of a range of local interest books – will also be in the Woolhope Room from 10am to 3pm with a stall of their books for sale.

At 2pm, local writer and historian, Heather Hurley, will give a short talk – Paths and Pubs, Roads and Rivers in Herefordshire and the Wye Valley and at 2.30pmthere will be a short humorous talk from Roger Kite.

He wrote You’re Not from Round Here, Are You? An A to Z of Proper People and People from Off.

Homemade cakes, tea and coffee will be on sale, with funds raised going towards library projects.

There will also be a free story time for children at Hereford Library between 11am and 11.30am and a chance to make fingerprint art book marks.

The Friends of Leominster Library group is holding a coffee morning between 10am to12pm, with a story time for under 5s in the junior library at 10.30am.

At Ross-on-Wye Library there will be a coffee morning between 10am and12pm, with story time for under 5s in the junior Library at 11am.
