A MAN who died following a crash on the main Hereford to Worcester road has been named.

Andy Dent, from Worcester, died after the Leyland DAF tanker he was driving was in collision with a white Ford Transit panel van on the A4103 near Withington on Christmas Eve.

The 48-year-old's family today paid tribute to him, saying that he was a "big character who always loved to laugh."

“He was a beloved partner to Tracey for 10 years and a much-loved step-father to Thomas and Emily and more recently, grandfather to Isaac," the statement reads.

“His passing to us is devastating and we cannot express how much we love and miss him.”

The van driver, a man in his 30s, sustained serious injuries and was flown to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

His condition this week was described as "stable."

Witnesses are asked to call police on 101, quoting incident number 290-S-241213.
