A COUNTY primary school has put children's safety at the top of its agenda with the appointment of a new road crossing patrol officer.
Starting this week, Emily Beavan will be located at the footpath crossing point on the Dormington Road to enable children to cross to and from Mordiford CE Primary School school more safely.
“We would like to thank all users of this busy road for their cooperation in advance” said head teacher Liz Kearns.
"To avoid any delays to their journey, commuters might like to find an alternative route between 8.20am and 8.55am and 2.50pm to 3.20pm when the crossing is operational."
Numerous plans to alleviate congestion caused by parents parking at school to drop off and pick up their children have been thwarted over the years.
The school governors hope that by funding this position, parents of older children will be able to operate a “drop and go” system in the morning to reduce the number of parked cars along the village roadside.
