ALEX Coppock is the proud owner of a brand new Mini after his ticket was drawn out of a raffle.

Hereford Round Table ran the contest which saw more than 2,000 entries.

The city's mayor, Councillor Phil Edwards, had the honour of picking the winner, while Sunshine Radio's Leon Oldman had the task of calling Alex to give him the good news.

Alex, who is from Hereford, said that he plans to take his wife out for a drive after the got the keys to the £12,500 motor.

"We would like to thank anyone that bought a ticket from us, whether in the blazing sun at the Bromyard Gala or the pouring rain of the Herefordshire Country Fair," said Hereford Round Table chairman Andrew Johnson.

"We have been all over Herefordshire this summer meeting the most wonderful people who make our county such a fantastic place to live, but there could only be one winner.

"However, everyone who bought a ticket will be helping lots of different charities and good causes as all the profits from the draw will go to help local charitable projects and good causes in the county."
