NIGHT work to remove the existing central reservation on Newmarket Street is to begin this evening.

The works are to take place between 8pm and 6am, ahead of the larger refurbishment and improvement of the area in the new year.

It should be complete within approximately one week with disruption to motorists expected to be minimal.

A later start of 10pm has been arranged for tomorrow (Wednesday December 11) to ensure no impact is felt for shoppers and businesses during the late night shopping evening.

Newmarket St is nothing to do with the Highway Agency, so the logo at the top of the article is misleading.

Is the road to be closed? Or just the lanes nearest to the central reservation? Will diversions be in place? This article tells us everything apart from the information that is actually useful

No, you've got it all wrong! Traffic has been massively reduced as hundreds leave their cars at home to ride their bikes across the new Greenway bridge!

Actually I think that it's another Council mistake , to put it politely .
Why don't they. come out and say we messed up , we should have liaised more with the contractors before we put out a press release which was wrong / incorrect. AND it's still on our website because the IT experts only work Mon - Fri.

This work is being carried out in the shortish time, we get Hubard and some of his political party on the radio talking nonsense. Their talk will stop visitors coming to Hereford by giving the impression that it is closed.
