NEWS of a new post office in Ross-on-Wye has been "returned to sender".
The post office put out a press release saying the Ross branch was moving - when it wasn't.
Instead, Ross post office will be staying in The Maltings - for the "foreseeable future" at least - and not the Gwalia store in Broad Street.
A Post Office spokesman acknowledged the "confusion" the release had caused.
"Rumours have surrounded the future of Ross on Wye Post Office for a period of time now," a post office statement read.
"Furthermore, a communications error on the part of Post Office Ltd led to the printing of posters and issuing of a press release with incorrect information, leading to further confusion.
"We would like to apologise for any inconvenience that the confusion has caused."
The post office has now confirmed that the branch will not be moving to the Gwalia with the service staying at the current post office at The Maltings for the foreseeable future.
