WEST Mercia Police has confirmed that a training exercise took place in Hereford yesterday.
A number of unmarked cars were reportedly seen in the city during the afternoon in the Roman Road area.
Meanwhile, the search for missing prisoner Alan Giles is ongoing throughout the force area.
Giles escaped from HM Hewell, near Redditch, Worcestershire, on Monday.
The 56-year-old is serving two life sentences for murdering and kidnapping a 16-year-old student in 1995.
Police have confirmed though that Hereford is not at the centre of the search.
Anyone who sees Giles is asked to call police immediately on 999.
