A round-up of the biggest and best bonfire and fireworks celebrations across Herefordshire and the borders, plus one or two worth travelling a little further to see
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27
Berrington Hall, Yarpole, near Leominster Firework themed activities for the kids in the afternoon followed by hot dogs, burgers and traditional firework night treats from 4pm then round off the evening with a fantastic firework display at 6pm. SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2
Hereford Racecourse Round Table fireworks display with Sunshine Radio. Fireworks by Jubilee and Olympic firework company, Kimbolton Fireworks. All proceeds will be donated to local charitable causes. Sponsored by Sanctuary Group. Gates open 5.30pm, bonfire lit 6.30pm. £10 per adult, children free.
Three Counties Showground, Malvern The theme for this year’s firework spectacular is Superheroes. Set to a fantastic 20 minute pyro musical spectacular there’s plenty of indoor shelter and viewpoints, delicious refreshments, fun fair, games and activities. Entry £5, underfives free, free parking. Chase Hotel, Ross-on-Wye St Michael’s Hospice, in association with Ross Lions Club bonfire and fireworks display, present The Bondfire Casino Night. Gates open at 6.30pm, bonfire lit at 7pm, fireworks 7.30pm. Hot drinks, burgers and hot dogs available to purchase, sweets van on site.Light sticks and novelties on sale. All in aid of Lions charities. Pay on the gate: Adults £6, 16- and-under £4.
Ewyas Harold Recreation Ground
Featuring barbecue and professional firework display. Starts at 6.30pm.
Town firework display run by Rotary Club. Gates open 6.30pm, bonfire lit at 7pm. Barbecue hot dogs, hot soup and rolls and light sticks on sale. Adult £10, child £5, family ticket (two adults, three children) £20. Entrance through the vets in the Southend.
Recreation Field Fownhope Heart of Oak Society annual firework and bonfire evening. Gates open at 6pm and fireworks start at 7pm. Barbecue and refreshments. Adults £5, children £1. Parking will be limited but parking attendants will guide cars into spaces in the village.
TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 5
Baskerville Hall, Clyro Black Mountains Lions Bonfire and Firework Display. Gates open at 6pm, bonfire lit 6.45pm, fireworks at 7pm. Adults £4, children £1. Free parking. Soup and hotdogs available.
Belgrave Park, Abergavenny Abergavenny and District Round Table present a professional fireworks display set to music by AM Discos. Gates open and funfair starts at 6pm. Refreshments available. Adults £5, children and concessions £3. More details at abergavennyroundtable.co.uk.
Millennium Meadow, Pembridge
Bonfire and fireworks on 6.30pm. Burgers and hot dogs, licensed bar. No sparklers please.
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8
Lower Hill Farm, Breinton The Breinton Fireworks Party, by kind invitation of Richard Treloar. The bonfire will be lit at 6pm. Hot dogs and some drink will be provided. There is no charge to attend the event, but any donations to help offset the costs will be welcome. Heggies will provide sausages for the event, but please feel free to bring your own wine and cakes.
Mordiford CE Primary School Fireworks and Bonfire Night featuring music, a procession and a firework display. Gates open and hot food from 6pm; Guy Fawkes procession 6.15pm; bonfire lighting 6.30pm; fireworks 7pm Family (two adults, two under-18s) £13, adult £6, child £3. Discounted advance tickets available from the school office. Parking in field above school subject to weather. No parking in Moon Pub and no sparklers.
SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 9
West Midland Safari Park, Bewdley.
Firework Festival Spectacular fireworks and bonfire, late-night rides, safari illuminations and themed music to bring the party alive. Plus Mark O’Shea’s Reptile World, Twilight Cave, SeaQuarium, Creepy Crawlies, a sea lion show and refreshments including a hog roast, bar and disco in Tree Tops pavilion. On the night prices: £11.50 (age three and up); adult wristband (16-plus), £11.99; child wristband (three-15) £10.99. Gates and rides open, 2pm; bonfire lit 6.30pm, last admission 7pm, firework extravaganza 7.15pm.
