Stephen K Amos promises fans a "bellyful of laughs" when he brings his tour to Hereford's Courtyard Theatre
FUNNYMAN Stephen K Amos says that he may sample Hereford’s famous cider next week when he performs at the Courtyard theatre.
The comedian’s latest tour, The Spokesman, comes to Hereford on Wednesday and Stephen said that the audience can expect “a bellyful of laughs”.
“I don’t think I have been to Hereford before, but I am looking forward to it,” said Stephen.
“I don’t know anything about the place though, but I’m happy to drink anything.
“Never say never.”
The Spokesman, which is an anagram of Stephen’s name, will delve into whether he would be a good spokesman.
“You always see a spokesman who writes a prepared statement, but who are they?” asked Stephen.
“I am also often asked to be a spokesman on certain things and I do ask myself whether I will make a good spokesman.”
The tour has been a bit hit in Australia and New Zealand and Stephen won the Critics Award 2012 at the Perth International Festival.
He has also performed at every Edinburgh Fringe Festival since 2003 and is well-known for his appearances on shows such as Live at the Apollo, Have I Got News for You and Radio 4’s, Life: An Idiot’s Guide.
He has also just had his sitcom What Does the K Stand For? commissioned by Radio 4, which revolves around him growing up being black, funny and homosexual.
“I strongly encourage people to come down to the show and have a laugh, because I will guarantee that it will provide a bellyful of laughs,” said Stephen.
