The big 50: Former Weobley and Wigmore students reunite to celebrate anniversary

TWO county schools took trips down memory lane to celebrate their 50th anniversaries.
Weobley High School and Wigmore High School both celebrated half a century this term.
At Weobley, about 200 people attended the celebrations. They included Margaret Hoskins, who attended the school on the day it first opened, and two of her teachers.
A celebration cake was made by a former pupil and was cut by headteacher Dean Williams and Ms Hoskins.
A cinematic DVD that was filmed when the school first opened was played on a split screen alongside a modern version, showing the changes the school had been through.
Sue Davies, event planner and office manager, said: “It was just a lovely evening. The school remained open for people to go round and have a look at how they remembered it.”
At Wigmore High School, each day of the week was dedicated to a different decade – with each year group dressing in the fashions from the times.
Old school records, newsletters and former reports were reviewed and in each morning’s assembly, pupils were treated to staff performances of memorable songs from the decades including Abba and the Spice Girls.
The week ended with a tea party on Friday, with primary and nursery pupils and staff, and past pupils and staff.
