Mobile speed camera to be set up on A4111 in Eardisley
9:50am Friday 4th October 2013 in News
A NEW mobile speed camera will soon be in place on the A4111 in Eardisley.
Following concerns raised by local residents about the speed of traffic along the 30mph route, a speed enforcement van will be in place later this month as part of the Safer Roads Partnership’s Community Concern programme.
Anna Higgins, communications manager at the safer roads partnership, said: “The speed data we collected in the area highlighted a speed compliance problem and 15 per cent of vehicles are travelling above 35.2mph.
"Eardisley is a busy community and residents are understandably concerned about the excessive speed of some drivers. To address this issue, we are launching a new community concern site. We hope that the presence of a speed camera will improve driver compliance with the 30mph speed limit and improve the safety of the road for all those who use it.”
Speed date will be collected while the enforcement site is in place to assess the impact upon traffic speed and driver behaviour.
