HEREFORD could have its own local television channel by the end of next year.
Communications regulator Ofcom has confirmed that the city is to merge with Gloucester and Malvern to form one single licence.
The Hereford Times reported in August that Ofcom received a small number of requests to consider merging Hereford and Gloucester into one channel, but the Triple Broadcasting Co argued that Malvern could be added to the patch too.
Ofcom has since agreed to the move and is now inviting applications to run the local TV channel, which will take Gloucester’s name and be avilable to view on freeview digital television.
