Better late than never: Postcard from Cuba takes more than two years to reach destination
A COUPLE have a new appreciation for the UK’s postal system – since receiving a postcard from abroad more than two years after it was sent.
Joanna and David Read, who live in Bromsberrow Heath, near Ledbury, were delighted to receive a postcard from Cuba, sent from their neighbours Richard and Jan Long.
However, they were confused because they received the postcard 28 months after it was sent, despite it having the correct amount of postage stamps and an airmail sticker.
Joanna and David were one of five families who also received their postcards from Jan and Richard on Saturday.
Jan said that everyone concerned “found the whole thing hilarious”.
She said: “Joanna and David did find it funny but did have a slight argument about where we were. We had in fact gone to Madrid when the postcard arrived, so they couldn’t undertand it when a card from Cuba dropped on their mat.
“After much amusement, we concluded that we would never complain about the British Post Office again.”
