High speed broadband available in Ledbury

HIGH speed fibre broadband is now available to almost 4,000 homes and businesses in Ledbury.

This follows Hereford, which had its broadband upgraded last year, and Leominster will follow later this year as part of BT’s £2.5 billion fibre roll-out programme .

Bill Wiggin, MP for North Herefordshire, said: “This is a welcome and significant step for Ledbury. High-speed digital connectivity is a defining factor for our long-term success.

“At a time when our local economy needs a boost, important developments, such as the government’s and BT’s investment in super-fast broadband, offer us the potential to create new opportunities, services and growth.”

I'm in Hereford and got the 38Mb last December - it hasn't missed a beat since, running perfectly at 37.1Mb (and 10Mb uploads) - never varies or drops out at all. Thank goodness neither the Council nor my MP had anything to do with it ...

dippy - it just means its very good! I'm just pointing out to those who accuse us of moaning all the time, that I'm quite prepared to give credit where it is due.

I spend half my life on the internet so hooking up to BT Infinity last year was a godsend to me and i reccomend it to anyone and everyone.

Typical of Bill Wiggin to get in on the act to claim Government credit for its delivery though. I would suggest it has more to do with the people of Herefordshire who have been lobbying and petitioning BT to roll it out over the past few years than it has to do with Tory suits!

Can I ask what is the source of this news story? I've checked a number of Ledbury postcodes on the BT Wholesale availability checker and they are still showing an estimated order date of 31-Dec-2013. The BT Infinitiy Rollout plan still shows Ledbury as a 'Future Exchange' for this financial year 2013. The big news story to me is that BT have already installed a fair number of the street furniture (DSLAM cabinets) in Ledbury ready for when the Exchange upgrade is planned and completed.

Happy to be corrected if the BT websites are out of date. Either way, high speed broadband coming to Ledbury is fantastic

Thanks

Ian

BT were 6 months late on the delivery date for Hereford, so that 31 Dec date might slip a little - worth the wait nonetheless.

I actually saw the BT chap sorting out the CAB and he confirmed that he was sorting out the fibre - Ledbury is ready for it all but as to when the availbility checker will be updated that remains to be seem.
