THE end is in sight for "Plan B for Hay" - a group campaigning against plans to relocate Hay-On-Wye Primary School in order to build a supermarket.
Last night Powys Council threw out Gaufron Development's plans to build a Co-Operative Food supermarket on the current site in favour "going it alone" - finding their own funding to build a new 240 person school on the current site.
Having spent the last few years rallying support against the project, 'Plan B' chairman Malcolm Smith insists the group will not dissolve until "it is certain it has met its objectives".
Powys Council will now look to fund the new build through their own capital receipts and fund-matching scheme '21st Century Schools' backed by Welsh government.
