Hundreds of jobs on offer in Hereford

HEREFORD MP Jesse Norman will be hosting a jobs fair in the city.

There will be more than 400 vacancies for prospective applicants attending the Shire Hall on Thursday.

Employers will include Sir Robert McAlpine, HSBC, Amey and S&A.

Advice on training and updating CVs will also be on offer between 10am and 4pm.

Mr Norman said: “During the present difficult times we must all work together to help the local economy in Herefordshire.

“There is free entry to the fair so I hope to see many job seekers there throughout the day.”

Round up all the shirkers and scroungers and tell them to select a job from the 400 on offer, no excuses. As Jesse says "we must ALL work together".

Oh yeah, that's just what the bank HSBC and the council agency Amey needs: a workforce of 'shirkers and scroungers'. Really well throught through.

Jobs have to go to people who are qualified and experienced enough to do them, or are capable of being trained. Sadly, no matter how hard you may try to find a job, if you don't fulfil the above, you won't get hired.

Worse, people with degrees and qualifications struggling to find work in their field are constantly overlooked for shelfstacking and other basic jobs due to being 'overqualified'.

It's so easy when you're in work (or retired) to come up with all the answers. Try living in that struggle and you'll see how hard it can be.

Not everyone out of work is a 'shirker or scrounger'.

recently amey have been laying off large numbers of staff so why are they recruting?
and as for s&a davies. with all the controversy surrounding that place i would of thought the council would want to distance themselvs a bit.

This is just a publicity exercise for Jesse Norman and the council. How many of these jobs actually exist.
My friend works for Amey and thinks they are all going to loose their jobs soon as he believes they will not continue to keep the contact in Hereford , and lots of the machinery is being moved else where already. He has been actively looking for another job because of this.
It is just a waste of money and peoples time giving them false hope, in fact it is bordering on being cruel.

S&A? Has their supply chain ran out or have they been told to source more locally?

Perhaps Jesse is hosting this with one eye to the future - after all, come the next election, he's going to be out on his ear with his tory mates. Wonder if he'll be applying for a seasonal job with S&A fruit??
