New High Sheriff will 'give back to community'
10:30am Monday 18th March 2013 in News By Lydia Johnson
THE NEW High Sheriff of Herefordshire has vowed to spend his year ‘giving back to the community.’
Bob Tabor, from Llanrothal, near Ross-on-Wye, was initiated in to the role at Buckingham Palace last Wednesday (March 13) where the Queen hand-pricked his name in to the Roll of Sheriffs using a silver bodkin - a tradition started by Queen Elizabeth I.
Mr Tabor, who is also a deputy lieutenant of Herefordshire, said he feels ‘enormously privileged’ to be chosen for the role.

What the hell does a High Sherriff do?
Does he have a horse? and chaps? and most importantly .. .a gun?
Not many preofessions where you get hand pricked by the queen though.
