MP to fight NHS Trust over "false choice" offered to county

JESSE Norman is ready to fight Wye Valley NHS Trust over the “false choice” he says is being offered over the future for health and social care in the county.

The MP for Hereford and South Herefordshire is calling a public meeting to rally his cause later this month.

Last week the cash-strapped Trust confirmed plans that could either put its services into private hands or see the Trust become the junior partner of a larger, financially stable trust.  This was pitched as the only way the trust could achieve foundation status as required by government.

Today (Monday) Mr Norman said the trust was being pushed into a false choice by NHS chiefs unwilling to grasp unfair NHS funding formula and Hereford County Hospital’s “ruinous” PFI contract as the real source of the Trust’s cash flow woes

“There must be no talk of cutting or merging services in Herefordshire until both these issues are properly addressed,” he said.

So all that guff that Cameron spouted about never wanting to see the NHS privatised, was just that - guff, rubbish, lies. Its nice to see that Jesse "best trader of tea towels in the free world" Norman,is planning a public meeting,it will give us chance to hurl phlegm in his general direction, as Bobby would say. Can't see him going to war over this - he doesn't seem that bothered that the rest of Hereford is going down the pan under this conservative led council.
Rotten stinkers,the lot of them.

This is all the fault of the ill conceived PFI agreements.Live now,pay later. I hope it won't affect the planned radiography unit for the hospital.

How marvellous to have such a hardworking campaigning MP slogging his heart out for local people about local issues.

The ultimate satire on this would be turn up at the rally with Jesse Norman Tea Towels and hold em up every time he speaks chanting "Jesse Jesse Jesse"

Mizza, just stop! This is a brilliant idea and I love it,I could ask The Guild of Whitecross Weavers if they could knit us some costumes -things have been a little slow for them since Lukio disappeared - then we would be in disguise, and could throw eggs-free range of course-as well!!

Dippy hahaha.
So long as the eggs are free range I don't see how anyone could possibly object.
I don't think Jesse would turn round and Lamp us John Prescott style.

Jesse Norman accoding to his register of interests in 2012 received payment given to charity for speaking at a Quiller event. Quiller Consultancy. Quiller lobbyist George Bridges, friend to George Osborne and Cameron’s former election campaign manager, as well as Theresa May’s ex-chief of staff, and an ex-strategist for the Chief Medical Officer. Quiller lobbies for among others, Capita, the enormous outsourcing firm which has its eye on running NHS Direct, and a private equity firm heavily invested in health. Quiller is owned by Huntsworth Group who are owned by Lord Chadlington. New Labour alongside the Health and Social Care Act, which Jesse supported is creating a disaster of fragmentation, tendering costs, run by private companies. Jesse Norman is like so many hypocritical MPs, who are willing to vote for a bill that will screw services and then locally waffle about how he is going to save them. Get rid of him at the next election.

Nice Work Fiskar.

I don't quite see what he means by both the issues being properly addressed.

The PFI contract is just that. Is there scope for renegotiation? There must be over 20 years left for the PFI consortium to make profits on the deal.
Why would they renegotiate?

If the lovely Jesse supported the Health Social Care Act, then what does he intend to do about funding. That is taken over by the NHS Commissioning Board from 1 April under the Act.
They are basically a £70 billion quango. I don't think even Jesse with his high rolling contacts will get anywhere with them.

Just FYI the Health and Social Care Act is opposed by the Royal College of Nursing, Royal College of Midwives, The British Medical Association and the Royal College of General Practitioners.
Bodies in favour include the Confederation of British Industry.

Jesse has, make no mistake about this, voted to Privatise the NHS.
Then he has the gall to comment to the HT about how he does not want services cut in Hereford.

I've been informed that the rent the Hospital has to pay each year is nearly 9 million pounds.
If this is right and I think it is, who negotiated this impossible to pay contract.
This Hospital is now bankrupt and its not the fault of the Tory's. Its all down to New Labour and their reckless governance.
PS I'm a Labour voter.

You're not wrong, werintrouble. New Labour have a lot to answer to. Many questions and objections were raised at the time, but as usual, completely ignored. PFI is a disaster waiting to happen. We got the short end of the stick .PFI schools will be the next catastrophe.

Retrex, you are quite right - he will do nothing! He will have his public meeting,he will say all the right things, he will probably get his photo in next weeks Hereford Times -BUT he will achieve nothing. This is privatisation via the back door. He knows it,we know it,and now he knows we know he knows it!
