Hundreds of jobs possible after Georgian delegation visits Hereford Enterprise Zone
HEREFORD Enterprise Zone could be a step closer to securing hundreds of new jobs following the visit of representatives from the Georgian government and a Georgian aerospace company.
Today's visit to the enterprise zone in Rotherwas, branded Skylon Park, occurs with a view to locating an advanced manufacturing plant in the city.
Seattle based Get it Group brings together landowners and international businesses looking for locations to expand their operations.
For several months negotiations have been on-going between Herefordshire Council, the Enterprise Zone Board and the Get It Group who are looking to buy the land at Rotherwas and will then bring the Georgian investment into the county.
Discussions have progressed with the Get it Group to the extent that their client, Georgian firm Tbilisi Aerospace Manufacturing, is actively considering Hereford as a UK base.
The company will build components for a new small passenger jet with a target market in Eastern Europe. The visit represents the next stage in their negotiations with Herefordshire Council as landowner of the site.
Bill Jackson, chair of Hereford Enterprise Zone Board, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming the delegation from Georgia as this brings more certainty to the company’s investment in Hereford.
"Not only will this investment bring many jobs into the city but will also provide an apprenticeship school for around 70 apprentices a year, and will provide the necessary skills and training to support the operation.”
