Herefordshire water bills to rise by 1.7 per cent
9:24am Tuesday 5th February 2013 in News
By Mark Bowen
THE water company that supplies Herefordshire is to increase its bills by less than average.
With some water companies increasing bills by as much as 5.5 per cent, Welsh Water will increase bills by 1.7 per cent.
This means the average bill will increase from £427 to £434.
Chris Jones, finance director, said: “We are very proud to say that we have again been able to achieve the lowest average bill increase for our customers.
“Our unique not-for-profit model means we can ensure profits stay within the company for the benefit of customers."

Welsh Water's website states:
"Since 2001, Welsh Water has been owned by Glas Cymru – a ‘not
for profit’ company. Glas Cymru does not have any shareholders
and this means that all profits are retained in the business and
reinvested for the benefit of Welsh Water’s customers.
Apart from this, Welsh Water is the same as any other company.
We have a Board of Directors and we raise money to pay for our
very large capital investment programme from investors who
buy bonds or lend us money. Welsh Water is the only UK water
company owned and financed in this way."

We are all working harder to keep our jobs, whilst we hear of such increases all around us, that make us a 'bit' touchy.
From other posters' comments on this site we don't think we are alone.
Do we get a little hot under the collar when we hear of bankers huge bonuses, council bosses high pay, etc? Frankly, the answers are unrepeatable on this site.
