Foreign aerospace company could bring hundreds of jobs to Hereford
2:55pm Monday 4th February 2013 in News By Bill Tanner
A VISIT vital to the future for hundreds of new jobs is set for Thursday.
Representatives from the Georgian government and Georgian aerospace company Tiblisi Aerospace are visiting the Rotherwas Enterprise Zone - now branded Skylon Park - with view to building an advanced manufacturing plant in the city.
The Hereford Times has reported on months of international negotiations that have Tiblisi Aerospace actively considering Hereford as a UK base.
A Rotherwas plant would make components for a new small passenger jet with a target market in Eastern Europe.
Thursday’s visit represents the next stage in negotiations with Herefordshire Council as landowner of the site.
Bill Jackson, Chair of Hereford Enterprise Zone Board said the visit brought “more certainty” to the company’s investment in Hereford.
“Not only will this investment brings many jobs into the city but will also provide an apprenticeship school for around 70 apprentices a year, and will provide the necessary skills and training to support the operation,” he said.

This is an example of globalisation where corporations run the world and governments fund dodgy deals resulting in a shrinking workforce and low wages.
Watch this excellent video by Robert Reich - "How unequal can America get before we snap" delivered in 2005 before the bank crash.

The recent Gay Marriage issue for example! I was actually for the right for same sex couples to get married in a Church but it was just my opinion. Others, lots of others felt and feel very differently and they shouldn't be subjected to death threats and howls of bigot and homophobic.
It's exactly the same with the EU and the immigration swamping that Hereford has been subjected to. Lots of people are fine and dandy with it but, just like the Gay Marriage issue, lots of people are unhappy that their home has undergone this vast and rapid change and they shouldn't be branded bigots or racists simple because they have raised a voice and expressed their view.
It really is a troubling part of our national psyche that we behave in this strange way that isn't to different to the Salem Witch Trials. We seem to thirst to be offended. We want to be able to say,'I'm a lovely person. A bastion of goodness and kindness and anyone who disagrees with me is a traitor to the new social order.
It's actually bloody frightening that you can't politely and sensibly air your view on this thread of news in case someone is offended, you get branded a racist and then be sanctioned for using your right to express your hard won right to express your democratic free speech.
As for this thread of news, I to am concerned that our kids won't get a look in when these new jobs emerge and I ain't a bigot or a racist for expressing that view.
As a nation we've gotta pull ourselves together and stop trying to be holy than thou and speak openly, honestly and politely about these problems that we are all faced with and not allow ourselves to lose our democratic right to air our opinion even if it upsets the guardins of our new socially engineered society.
