AN elderly cyclist has died following a collision with a car near Leominster.

The man, who is in his 80s, was cycling along the B4361 Hereford Road at 9.20am yesterday when the collision with a silver Ford Focus happened near the Brierley turning.

He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham by air ambulance, but died later in the evening.

“It is important not only for the police to establish exactly how the collision happened, but also to the man’s friends and family, who our thoughts are with at this sad time,” said Sergeant Dave Bishop.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who was travelling along the B4361 on Tuesday and remembers seeing either the man on his bicycle or the Ford Focus in the time leading to the crash or from anyone who witnesses the collision.”
