Charity back on the road thanks to fundraiser
7:00am Friday 11th January 2013 in News
A CHARITY providing transport in the southwest of the county is back on the road after a serious collision wrote off its old multi-purpose vehicle.
Dore Community Transport (DCT) raised £33,000 to buy a new minibus following the accident in Clehonger in February last year.
It now has three working minibuses again and a number of cars working five days a week and occasionally weekends, but needs more volunteer drivers.
Roger Bradley, a trustee with DCT, said the charity wants anyone willing to give up any amount of their time. He said: “We don’t just take people to doctors and dentist appointments – we take them to visit friends, to get their hair done, to wherever they need to be.
“This isn’t a service for people who have cars sitting in the driveway, this is for people who would struggle to get anywhere without us.
People do depend on us.”
Last year about 5,540 people used the service.
