Leominster superstores debate to be held
2:00pm Thursday 10th January 2013 in News
LEOMINSTER residents will get the chance to have their say on the potential impact of two planned supermarkets in the town.
Sainsbury’s wants to build an edge-of- town store at Mill Street with Thomas Panels and Profiles having to make way from the site should the idea be passed.
Developer Morbaine Ltd, meanwhile, has applied for a 45,000 square foot food store on Southern Avenue for an unnamed chain.
The Friends of Leominster group is holding a public discussion at the town’s Royal Oak Hotel next Thursday, January 17, from 7pm.
Guest speaker will be Richard Hadley from the group Ledbury Opposes Out-of-town Superstores.
“This is a big issue for Leominster and it merits public discussion,” said Friends’ spokesman Pete Blench.
“We will hear about the Ledbury group’s experiences and will then welcome debate about the situation in Leominster.
“We really want to stress that all views are welcome.”
