Walker sustains suspected fractured ankle following fall in Canon Pyon

EMERGENCY services took more than two-and-a-half hours to carry an injured walker through woods after she slipped.

The woman was walking through Hermitage Farm in Canon Pyon at 3.05pm on Friday when she fell and sustained a suspected fractured ankle.

Both the ambulance and fire services were called to the farm and worked together to rescue the walker.

“It became apparent straight away that it would be difficult to get the woman safely out of the woods over the wet, slippery and muddy land,” said ambulance spokesman Chris Kowalik.

“The only way was for ambulance and fire crews to work together.

“It was a case of all hands on to safely carry her through half a mile of rough terrain to the waiting ambulance.

“It took more than two and a half hours to get her out of the woods and into the ambulance which then took her to Hereford County Hospital.”

... where her husband had to pay WAY over the odds for parking to support his poor traumatised wife !
Still, couldn't have asked for a better 39th birthday !
Still think she could have hopped along to the local for a couple of drinks after the hospital ;)
