FIREFIGHTERS tackled a fire at Mr Chips in Hereford this morning.

Four engines were called to the Commercial Road premises at 11.20am and found a chip pan on fire.

Crews used a Co2 extinguisher, a hose reel and a jet to extinguish the flames, which were put out just over an hour later.

Maybe when they fix it up they will have better chips. I had some chips from them a couple of months ago and they was not that great. saying that there are very few chip shops that are good these days.

My favourite used to be the take and taste in Bridge street years ago and Harry who had a chippy in Redhill at the old Mr T rooms years ago.

they are not the same as they used to be.

You think the chips are not great - I've seen the 'kitchen' - that really isn't great, or anything remotely approaching it.

Lads, Ignore the pair of them Ad47 has an unhealthy fixation with potatoes and TwoWheels has clearly been snooping about in their kitchen doing God knows what to our chips.
And as far as TwoWheels claim that this is the fault of the Council, I'll not stand by and blame them. This fire, I hope, is nothing to do with the Council and they cannot be held responsible for the quality of a chip.

bobby47, I did not see any one blame the council. fire happens, I remember many years when i was at school and the Mermaid at the oval went up in flames. A chippy is a high fire risk, these things happen.

Thankfully no one got hurt.

potatoes are healthy, well kind of if you cook them right :) I don't have chips that often to be honest, but now and again it is nice, i normally go to the Welcome chippy in widemarsh street as it is on my way home from work.

Does Ken Williams still own the chippy?

The Stagecoach Inn and others too...?

Is he on the council now?

Hmmm?

bobby47 - you're putting words, not chips (thank goodness) into my mouth. Mr Chips had a Food Hygiene Rating of 2 out of 5 stars from Herefordshire Council, when the Council used to bother with such things (another service quietly abandoned). This had nothing to do with my cycling around the kitchen and using their cooking oil on my chain, honest. Have you though about deep frying your dough balls?

Right. Are we as a collective group of demented ranters and ravers blaming the Council for this fire? because if we are and this is a big step to take, then we'll get Twowheels to cycle round to the Town Hall, drenched in cooking fat and set himself on fire in protest.
Think it through, because a good mans life is at stake here unless the Firebrigade arrive promptly and extinguish the terrible blaze and then he might survive his pointless protest.

Holy chip smoke bobby47, first chips in my mouth, now offered up for public conflagration - I've spent all weekend polishing my bike, there's no way I want to drip fat all over it, let alone have burly fireman hacking at it with their cutting gear. This is looking more like The Wicker Man as each hour passes - where's Britt Eckland when you need her?

Twowheels. Brilliant. The Wicker Man!! Good lad.

Calm down everyone! We've all had a drink! (well I have) Please let no-one be so utterly foolish to self ignite in a blaze ot trex, simply to make a point about arsonist councillors, or not. Britt Ekland yes-personal conflagrations? Not really big or clever, is it? Anyway it was a body double that was cavorting and banging in the adjacent room to edwoodwoodwood. I pretended it was Britt in my head, though.

bobby47, you are uncannily, spookily, correct on two counts. I won't spoil it by saying which two, but I was born in August, and am not called Britt. Lead me to the pyre of chips!!!

Dadgey, TwoWheels is determined to do it. The fool thinks he's going to a better place. Sorry mate but your out.
