HEREFORDSHIRE-based sculptor Ed Elliott is celebrating the success of his latest commission – a human-sized wooden angel commissioned by the National Trust for an exhibition at the Mottisfont Estate in Hampshire, where it can be seen until February 2.
After that Greer (the Mottisfont Angel) will go to its new home at a prestigious sculpture collection in Essex, where existing installations include works by Antony Gormley, Elisabeth Frink and Thomas Heatherwick.
Pieces of an Angel includes a wide variety of work, from drawing and more sculptural objects to fantastic images of the finished sculpture and a ‘work in progress’ film made by the artist.
“Exhibiting my work with the National Trust was a fantastic opportunity, and now having the chance to show the supporting work near my home town is just brilliant,” said Ed, who was born and bred in Malvern.
“The success of this work has given me great confidence in my artistic development.
“There is a huge amount of drawing that goes into my sculptures, and showing this side of my work to the public this month makes me very happy.”
