AS part of the Heritage lottery- supported Cathedral Close restoration project, students from many of the county’s secondary schools have been exploring a variety of different historical periods.

Since November nearly 100 secondary and sixth-form students have been taking part in a series of visual arts workshops to interpret the heritage of The Close at different points in its history, from medieval to the present day, and to celebrate the natural environment of The Close and its surroundings, in a variety of creative ways including print-making, textiles, ceramics, multi-media, screen-printing and photography.

The workshops were organised with the assistance of Hereford College of Arts, Hereford Cathedral School and Hereford Heritage Services, and took place in the cathedral’s College Hall and in the art department of the Cathedral School.

A free exhibition of the work can be seen in the cathedral from tomorrow (Friday) until May 23.
