FOLLOWING the success of Art for Your Sake at The Colloquy in 2008, Jo Hilditch has asked artists Anthea Stilwell and Brontë Woodruff to organise a second exhibition.
It is in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support and will again be hosted by The Colloquy, a beautifully converted Victorian stable block near Lyonshall.
The title of the event was carefully chosen to convey two important messages – that the funds being raised are to help provide care and support for everyone who needs it and that the art on display is also for everyone.
“This is not an exclusive event in any way,” says Brontë. “In addition to the paintings on the walls, there will be works on paper, handmade cards and postcards, ensuring there is art for every taste and budget.”
With help from fellow artists Jill Barneby and Julienne Braham, organisers hope to surpass the £5,500 raised for the Macmillan- Renton Appeal last time.
The show features a strong line-up of artists, with work ranging widely from traditional to abstract and including 10 new participants alongside some familiar names.
There is a considerable mix, from the fantasy birds and stylised floral prints of 89-year-old Rhoda Partridge to Lois Hopwood’s landscape work in line drawings and oil and acrylic paintings, Art for Your Sake is at The Colloquy, Lyonshall from Tuesday to Thursday, February 23- 25, from 10.30am to 9.30pm (Tuesday and Wednesday) and from 10.30am to 4pm on Thursday.
