Young photographers have an eye for a picture

Hereford College of Arts has announced the results of this year’s Young Photographer Competition, which attracted a record number of entries from young people all over the county and surrounding areas.

Subject matter was diverse and exciting, including portraiture, documentary, fine art and reportage, illustrating how accessible and enjoyable communicating through images has become.

The college was delighted that more young people than ever sent in entries, demonstrating a great wealth of talent in the region.

The winner in the 11-15 category was Daisy Powles from Ledbury and Grace Evans from Worcester took first place in the 16-19 category.

Second and third places in the 11-15s went to Jessica Aps from Worcester and Anwen Rees, from Gwernyfed respectively, and in the 16-19 category, Vanessa Poludniak from Pershore and Martina Synowiec from Bridgend were awarded second and third places.

Prize winners and selected entries will be part of an exhibition at Hereford College of Arts running from Monday, January 5, to Saturday, January 22.
