Varied work on display in Courtyard's new exhibition

1:30pm Thursday 21st August 2008

4 THREE new exhibitions can be seen at The Courtyard as it re-opens following its annual closure for maintenance, which has included an upgrade of the lighting in the balcony exhibition areas.

First to benefit from the new installations are Hazel Gwatkin, Janice Dale and the Windsor family, with exhibitions which run until Saturday, September 20.

Hazel Gwatkin’s Mystical World features photographs taken using infrared film to take a fresh look at the beautiful landscapes of the Wales-Herefordshire border where she lives, resulting in a collection of tranquil, magical images.

In her exhibition, Precision, Janice Dale indulges her aspiration to convince her audience of the beauty of man-made articles, presenting them as small, precious, jewel-like pieces, with selected works displayed on light boxes to accentuate their intricacies.

Crossing is a new exhibition by a family group of three artists. Sheila Windsor’s paintings tread a thin line between the abstract and the figurative, while Mark Windsor’s abstract photographic works are presented alongside Sheila’s paintings to open a dialogue between the two practices. A more conceptual approach is represented by two mixed-media installations.

For further details, call 0870 1122330. The exhibitions run until Saturday, September 20.
