THE Old Chapel Gallery in Pembridge is currently showing a collection of sculptural pieces by nine contemporary British designer/makers in a variety of media in their Garden Sculpture exhibition.

Newcomers Johnny Woodford and Roy Dutton both design and make one-off pieces for the garden in wood, using chainsaws to produce stunning and unusual sculptures. Another newcomer to the gallery is basket maker Caroline Gregson, who creates life-size animals and birds from willow. Sculptor David England, who lives and works in Herefordshire, uses a variety of stone, including Portland and Forest of Dean to create unique sculptures. Blacksmith William Catcheside creates unique pieces incorporating some copper, influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement. Finally, blacksmiths Steve McCrae, Neil Lossock, Claudia Petley and Christy Bowdler will be showing a collection of their latest work in forged steel to include water features, poppies, lilies, ferns, sheep, ducks and abstract pieces.
