AN exhibition featuring the work of husband and wife artists, Craig and Cathy Sumner opens on Saturday at the Timothy Hawkins Gallery in Bartestree.

Craig Sumner studied at the Royal College of Art and ran his own successful design company for many years before deciding to commit his creative time to his painting.

Working in oils, watercolour and pastel, Craig’s main subject matter is the English landscape throughout the seasons and he also paints portraits in oils (his work has been shown at the Royal Academy amongst other places).

Cathy Sumner gained her Diploma in Art from the Stoke on Trent College of Art and her career has included teaching art and pottery, at times demonstrating to the public at the Gladstone Pottery Museum.

Her work has many diverse influences and inspirations, from fossil and plant forms to early medieval and oriental ceramics, and she makes a range of functional stoneware pieces as well as decorative Raku fired pieces.

Timothy Hawkins Gallery is located on the A438 Hereford-Ledbury road at Bartestree. Open Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm, Saturday, 10am to 5pm and Sunday, 11am to 4pm
