A RECENTLY opened exhibition in the gallery at The Courtyard features sculptures and paintings by Bromyard-based sculptor Ann Campbell, whose work reflects her lifelong interest in animals.

As well as sheep and hens, there are, says Ann, "a couple of wild boar hot out of the kiln". They were not created from life, she says, but inspired by wild boar she saw in France.

"Animals have been the prominent subjects," she says, though adds that people have also featured: "I used to exhibit at the Portrait Sculptors exhibition some years ago."

Today, while continuing to produce her own work, Ann teaches a small number of students in her home studio, having previously taught at Malvern College and Hereford College of Arts among others. She has twice won the John Brandler Prize for sculpture at The Royal West of England Academy in Bristol.

Also on display is an exhibition of photographs by Paul Davies, who following a career in the film industry, suffered a stroke which confined him to a wheelchair, shifting his viewpoint. His recent work focuses on this shift and invites the viewer to reassess the ordinary from Davies' perspective.

The Courtyard’s art spaces are open from 9am till late Monday to Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sundays. Admission to the exhibitions, which run until Sunday August 31, excluding Sunday August 3 to Sunday August 10, when the exhibitions area will be closed for maintenance.
