A THREE DAY Introduction to Lithography course will be given by Gini Wade from Tuesday, May 13 to Thursday, M1y 15 in the Grain Barn workshop at the Sidney Nolan Trust near Presteigne.
The closest printmaking technique to drawing, lithography offers uniquely varied and beautiful mark-making. Invented in 1798 it has been used by many artists, from Toulouse-Lautrec, Bonnard and Picasso to Paula Rego and Jim Dine.
Traditionally artists have drawn or transferred their image onto a special type of limestone block before printing from it. This introductory course, suitable for beginners and those wishing to refresh their skills, uses aluminium plate, ball-grained to simulate the surface of stone. If places are available then our regular litho 'improvers' are very welcome to attend during these dates. They will be introduced to multi-colour litho, using plate and stone.
Please email to check availability and visit sidneynolantrust.org to complete a booking form. A list of what you need to bring will be sent with confirmation of booking.
Tutor Gini Wade specialised in Lithography with Tamarind Master Printer Paul Croft at the School of Art, Aberystwyth, and her prints have been exhibited worldwide.
