THERE are just three days to catch the Ludlow Open, a national contemporary art exhibition, curated every summer by Jo King, who this year has created a gallery in the main college buildings on Castle Square.

All the artwork on view has been selected by a panel of art professionals, led this year by Christopher Le Brun, president of The Royal Academy of Art. More than 100 works from 79 artists – selected from more than 900 – are on display.

“Ludlow Open aims to bring contemporary, critically engaged art to the area, and also to give regional artists the opportunity to hang their work in a modern environment among national art work,” says Jo. “There is a wealth of art and craft in the area, but to see work of this kind we would normally have to travel to Birmingham and beyond.

The exhibition runs until Saturday, daily from 10am to 4pm.

Entry is free.

Running in conjunction with the show is an art trail thorugh the town, free curator’s tours, a Junior Open at Ludlow Assembly Rooms, and a special showcase of stone sculpture by Tim Covington in the garden beyond the gallery.
