Alan Bennet's Lady in the Van arrives in Malvern
4:50pm Friday 25th May 2012 in Theatre & Comedy
THE highly acclaimed Hull Truck production of Alan Bennett’s The Lady in the Van opens at Malvern Theatres on Tuesday and runs until Saturday, June 2.
Heart-warming and heart-breaking, The Lady in the Van tells the story of Alan Bennett’s unusual neighbour – a lady who lives in a clapped-out Bedford Van, parked in his front garden. The mysterious Miss Shepherd and her van move in one day - and never move out.
Olivier Award winner Nichola McAuliffe gives a bravura performance in one of the best-known and best-loved comedies of recent years. Alan Bennett’s brilliant play is about one of the most unusual friendships you will ever see, full of warmth, wit, and the great one-liners you would expect from the writer of Talking Heads and The Madness of King George. Alan Bennett is played by two actors, Sean McKenzie and Paul Kemp, and the cast also includes Fenella Norman, Dale Rapely, Karen Traynor, Ged McKenna and Sophie Robinson.
The Lady in the Van is at Malvern Theatres from Tuesday until Saturday, June 2. To book, call the box office on 01684 892277
