3:50pm Wednesday 18th January 2012 in Theatre & Comedy
FORMED in 1995, Orleton Group Giving Live Entertainment (OGGLE) has been a thriving amateur group covering a wide range of dramatic genres including, more recently, some hard hitting dramas including Johnny Don’t Jump by Alan Ogden.
Bev Jenkins’s production of Gillian Plowman’s Philip and Rowena took the group to the national semi-finals of the All England Theatre Festival.
This year, under the direction of Julie Waring, OGGLE tours two one-act plays.
The first, The Erpingham Camp, is a boisterous farce by Joe Orton and the second, written by Julie herself, is Breadsticks, a black comedy with a frightening twist, exploring family jealousy, bullying and identity.
The Erpingham Camp and Breadsticks can be seen at Orleton Village Hall on January 29 (tickers from Orleton Post Office); Norbury Theatre, Droitwich, on February 4; Conquest Theatre, Bromyard, on March 3; and at Hereford Drama Festival at The Courtyard in March. For details, call Bev Jenkins on 01568 780350 or email bev.jenkins@madasafish.com.
