BROMYARD actor Chris Barltrop is planning a birthday party for William Shakespeare.
The bard was baptised in Stratford-upon-Avon on April 26, 1564, and though his birthdate is unknown, it is traditionally observed on St George’s Day, April 23.
A thespian movement called Shakespeare United is planning a national celebration ahead of the 2012 London Olympics, but Chris, who performs at the Conquest Theatre, is backing a ‘warm-up event’.
“The idea isn’t specifically for theatre groups,” says Chris. “It could be a coffee morning with a Shakespeare theme or kids dressing-up as Shakespeare characters.”
