Schools sought to host play

ANVIL Productions, one of the UK's leading touring Shakespeare companies, is seeking secondary schools to host performances of its new production of Shakespeare's Othello.

As Othello is on this year's curriculum, Anvil has received inquiries from parents across the UK keen for their children to see one of the Bard's finest works before they take their exams.

Anvil plans to bring forward its tour to meet demand, but is struggling to find theatres in which to present the play at such short notice and is looking to take Othello directly to the schools themselves.

"It's a terrific production and true to the original text. We can easily stage it in a school hall and there is no technical requirement from the schools. We just need the space to perform in," explains Anvil's artistic director, Anne Jones.
