The Courtyard Children’s Christmas Show, directed by David Durant, returns for its fourth year with Little Red Riding Hood.

In fairy tales it’s always the Big Bad Wolf that causes the problems but is that really fair? In this retelling of the children’s classic Little Red Riding Hood, the Wolf finally gets to have his say. The audience gets to make up their mind about the Wolf and his wicked ways as he goes up against Little Red and a host of other fairy tale characters in this family friendly production.

Written by Nick Lane, this show features lots of songs and audience interaction as it tells the story of Little Red and her poor old Gran. Little Red Riding Hood is aimed at a younger audience and perfect for children aged seven and under, and their grown-ups!

Director, David Durant, says; “The Big Bad Wolf is out to clear his name in this year’s feisty and fun Children’s Christmas Show. Our story is set in a courtroom; in which Little Red and The Wolf, will take you back to several well-known ‘crime scenes’ to see what really happened. Did the wolf eat Grandma on purpose? Is Little Red as honest as we have always been led to believe? Well, you’ll just have to watch to find out!”

Kate Powell, who will be playing Little Red, says; “I had a ball in last year's children’s Christmas show, The Snow Queen, so I’m absolutely delighted to be back performing at The Courtyard and can’t wait to spend another Christmas in Hereford! For a lot of children, it will be their first theatre experience and it’s heart-warming seeing so many happy faces enjoying the show, especially at this time of year!”

Little Red Riding Hood will also be a part of Courtyard Family Saturdays. Audience members are invited to take part in a festive free pre-activity from 10.30am before the 11am show on Saturday mornings.

Little Red Riding Hood will be in The Courtyard’s Studio Theatre from Saturday, December 9 to Saturday, December 30. To book, call the box office on 01432 340555 or visit courtyard.org.uk
